"You find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." Samuel Johnson
There is no doubt that London and Paris are two of the greatest cities on earth. From language, to government, to law, to literature, to the arts - these two cities have been stars on the world stage for centuries.
These two capital cities are especially relevant for Canadians, as Britain and France are our two European founding nations. In fact, for many Canadians visiting London or Paris for the first time, things seem so familiar they experience deja vu - feeling they've been there before.
This tour will offer an introduction to both. We will spend 4 nights in London, then take the Eurostar high-speed train through the chunnel to Paris, where we will spend 4 more nights. In both cities we will enjoy rooms and breakfast in 4 star hotels in spectacular neighbourhoods. While we won't be able to see or do everything in a few days, we will hit the highlights and savour the atmosphere of these two special cities.
Given the vast number of world-class sights and attractions, guests will also have a Free Day in both cities. Barry will provide a list of potential activities, and guests will plan their own day. In London, guests may want to make a day-trip to the Harry Potter Studios north of the city or take a river boat west to Windsor Castle. In Paris, guests may want to visit the Louvre, spend a day at Versailles, or even visit Euro-DIsney. (These attractions are not included in the Land Package price, but Barry will happily make all arrangements.)
Whenever someone says "name the greatest cities on earth", London and Paris are always on the list. Come with us and find out why. This small group walking tour has been specially planned for those who haven't been to either city before. By seeing both in one (long) week, maybe we should call this our "great city sampler" tour!
