VIETNAM LongStay 2026

TravelMaven has developed something new in Vietnam. For the first time, we’re offering a LongStay package—six easygoing weeks in the charming riverside town of Hoi An, beginning January 2026.

This isn’t a traditional tour. It’s a chance to settle in, slow down, and enjoy daily life in one of Southeast Asia’s most beloved destinations. In many ways, it’s like spending a summer at the cottage—except this one comes with tropical weather, a UNESCO-listed Ancient Town, and no snow to shovel!

TravelMaven’s Vietnam LongStay is designed for travellers who want something more relaxed than a traditional itinerary. You’ll have your own fully equipped apartment and plenty of time to explore, unwind, and make Hoi An your winter home. Molly and Ursula Devolin will accompany the group from Toronto to Vietnam, with Molly staying on as your on-the-ground host for the full six weeks.

Each week will feature a Friday Night Dinner at one of Hoi An’s many great restaurants, plus a Group Excursion to a nearby destination. Optional activities—from cooking classes to beach walks—will be organized along the way, but nothing is mandatory. Your days can be as full or as free as you like.

Whether you’ve been to Vietnam before or are curious about Southeast Asia for the first time, this LongStay is an ideal way to experience something new without the rush. It’s warm, it’s walkable, it’s welcoming—and it just might be the perfect way to skip winter.

TravelMaven Hosts

The Devolin family spent Christmas and New Years in Hoi An in 2015 and loved it. So when Molly was offered the chance to host our VIETNAM LongStay, she jumped at it!  In fact, Molly and Ursula will travel from Toronto to Vietnam in early January, with Molly staying in Hoi An with the group for the duration, and Ursula spending two weeks before heading to South Africa to join Barry.

Welcome to Hoi An!

Hoi An is one of those places that seems to charm just about everyone. It’s safe, walkable, and full of character—think lantern-lit streets, riverside cafes, tailors, temples, markets, and plenty of cozy spots to grab a cold beer or a great meal for just a few bucks. There’s lots to do if you’re feeling active: beaches, biking, golf, tennis, cooking classes, art workshops, yoga, and easy day trips. And if you’re not feeling active? No problem—just settle into a café, order a bahn mi sandwich, and enjoy the view.

Welcome to Full Moon Apartments!

Full Moon Apartments, located on the edge of Hoi An’s UNESCO-listed historic district, offer a comfortable and well-equipped home base for an extended stay. There are five standard two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments as well as two even larger two-bedroom penthouse units available. Each apartment includes a living room and kitchen, providing ample space for relaxation and day-to-day living. Onsite amenities include a swimming pool, tennis court, restaurant, and lounge, with dozens of cafes, eateries, and boutique shops just a short walk away.

WEEKLY DINNERS

Each Friday night, we’ll gather for a group dinner at a local restaurant, handpicked by Molly. These weekly dinners are a chance to try new places, share stories, and enjoy great food together. They’re casual, social, and included in the Land Package—no planning needed, just show up hungry.

WEEKLY EXCURSIONS

Each week, Molly will lead an Excursion. The group will get picked up in the morning, returning later that day. Some will be nearby, while others will be further but sill reachable as a day trip.

My Son Sanctuary

One of our daytime excursions will be to My Son Sanctuary, a quiet jungle valley about an hour from Hoi An. Once the spiritual centre of the Champa Kingdom, it’s home to centuries-old Hindu temples and now recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s a peaceful spot for a walk, some photos, and a glimpse into Vietnam’s ancient past.

Cham Island

Another day trip will take us to Cham Island, just off the coast from Hoi An. Known for its clear water, sandy beaches, and laid-back vibe, it’s a great spot to relax, swim, or explore a bit of island life. The Cham people have lived here for generations, and the island is part of a protected marine biosphere, so it’s naturally beautiful and still feels a bit off the beaten path.

Bana Hills Resort

Ba Na Hills is a mountaintop resort just outside Danang, known for its record-breaking cable car, cooler mountain air, and the iconic Golden Bridge held up by giant stone hands. There’s a mix of things to see—French-style buildings, temples, gardens, cafes, and even a small amusement park. It’s a fun, slightly surreal place with big views and lots to explore.

Danang by Day

One day we’ll head to Danang, a lively coastal city just up the road from Hoi An. Our main stop is Marble Mountain—a cluster of marble and limestone hills with caves, temples, and sweeping views. Danang blends beach life and big-city energy, with wide boulevards, riverside cafes, and a more modern, fast-paced feel than its laid-back neighbour, Hoi An.

Danang by Night

One evening we’ll head into Danang, when the city swaps its daytime buzz for riverside lights and a more festive vibe. The big draw is the Dragon Bridge, which spits fire and water on weekend nights—because why not? There’s street food, markets, and plenty of great spots to just wander, snack, and soak it all in.

Hue

Our longest day trip takes us north to Hue, the former imperial capital of Vietnam. The main attraction is the Hue Citadel—a massive walled complex of palaces, temples, and gates that once housed emperors and their courts. It’s a place packed with history, quiet corners, and faded grandeur.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Each week, there will be optional activities for guests to join, as frequently or infrequently as they like. Some will be simple—like a walk on the beach or a stroll through the rice paddies—while others might be more involved, such as a cooking course, yoga or art class, a round of golf, or even a bit of fishing. The exact lineup will be determined closer to the trip, based on what’s available. Please note that costs for these activities are not included in the Land Package.

Pickleball anyone?

People everywhere seem to be mad about pickleball, including Vietnam! There are multiple places to pick up a game in Hoi An, including Poon Poon Pickleball Club, located less than a block away from Full Moon Apartments.

Golf anyone?

Golfers will love their time in Hoi An, with a trio of top-notch courses in town and three more less than an hour away. Local courses include Hoiana Shores (Robert Trent Jones Jr), Vinpearl Golf (new in 2018), and Montgomerie Links (Colin Montgomerie). Nearby courses include The Point Da Nang, Ba Na Hills (Luke Donald), and BRG Danang (Greg Norman).

Beach anyone?

Spectacular An Bang Beach is just 10 minutes from Full Moon Apartments (30 minutes by bicycle). Voted one of Asia's 25 Best Beaches by Tripadvisor, An Bang offers a relaxed atmosphere, great cafes and restaurants. It's also the perfect place for a swim!

Cycling anyone?

The region surrounding Hoi An is perfect for cycling - flat as a pancake with lots to places to go and things to see! Whether it's riding to the beach or heading into the rice fields, those who enjoy cycling have lots of options. Bikes are readily available through the hotel, but more avid cyclists may even want to pick up a second-hand bike, selling it again before they leave.

Fishing anyone?

Fishing in as integral part of life along the Vietnamese coast. Whether it's casting from the riverbank,  taking a basket boat into the nearby coconut forest, or joining a deep sea charter from Danang, there are plenty of opportunities for guests to wet a line during their six weeks in Hoi An.

Cooking class anyone?

Many visitors to Hoi An take a half or full-day cooking classes to learn how to prepare one or two local dishes. These are readily available to short-term visitors, but our LongStay guests also have the option of taking a multi-day course with a local chef that dives much deeper into Vietnamese cuisine.

Strolling anyone?

Hoi An offers great opportunities for simply taking a walk. Walking is a common mode of transportation for locals and tourists, and the Ancient Quarter is mostly car free. It's also flat and most roads, streets and allies are paved. Best of all, there's always lots to see!

Cafeing anyone?

There will be times when you don't want to "do" anything. In those cases, a popular pastime is to sit in a cafe and watch the world go by. Vietnam has an amazing cafe culture, with a wide variety of hot and cold coffee-based drinks available. Later in the day, cold beer is on the menu too.

Short-term visitors

While LongStay bookings are limited to two persons per apartment, short term guests are permitted subject to the hotel's per diem of $30 per person, plus costs related to group activities. If you want to host a family member or friend for a few days, ask TravelMaven staff for a total cost calculation.

Three weeks instead of six

For those who can't be away for more than a month, TravelMaven can split a six-week booking into two three-week segments if there's someone willing to take the other half. Please note: there is an $150 per person administration fee for anyone splitting a booking.

The Rest of Vietnam

We understand that some will want to see more of Vietnam after their time in Hoi An. TravelMaven would be happy to put a 10-14 day tour together with our Vietnamese partners. It's also possible to add a few days in Siem Reap or Singapore or Hong Kong. Ask Barry for details.

However, the plan is to extend the program in 2027 to include multiple departure dates and several properties in the Hoi An and Danang area.
