TravelMaven is excited to offer our Vietnam LongStay for the second time: six easygoing weeks in the charming riverside town of Hoi An. In response to our experience with first-year clients, we've also included more meals, activities and excursions than in 2026, and will offer two optional mini-tours that were requested by several clients.
This isn’t a traditional TravelMaven tour. It’s a chance to settle in, slow down, and enjoy daily life in one of Southeast Asia’s most beloved destinations. In many ways, it’s like spending a summer at the cottage, except this one comes with tropical weather, a UNESCO-listed Ancient Town, and no snow to shovel!
TravelMaven’s Vietnam LongStay is designed for travellers looking for something more relaxed than a traditional itinerary. You’ll have your own fully equipped apartment and plenty of time to explore, unwind, and make Hoi An your winter home. A TravelMaven host will be on-site for the full six weeks.
Each week includes a full-day outing to a nearby destination which includes lunch, a partial day activity in or around Hoi An, and a group dinner. One of our weekly outings (to Hue) will be overnight. Each week has a rhythm with several free days in a row, making it easy to take short independent trips, or simply enjoy Hoi An without feeling tied to a schedule.
We’re also offering two optional mini-tours (not included in the Land Package). More details for these mini-tours will be available soon:
- Ho Chi Minh (3 days) This mini-tour is during the LongStay on the third week. It is scheduled on otherwise free days so you won't miss anything from the regular program.
- Hanoi and Halong Bay (4 days) This mini-tour begins the day the regular LongStay program ends, so you'd be staying in Vietnam an extra 3 nights and depart on February 24th.
Each of our six weeks follows the same general schedule:
- Sunday to Wednesday: Free Days
- Thursday: Full-Day Excursion
- Friday: Group Dinner
- Saturday: Partial-Day Activity
Exceptions: On week 1 we include a few additional activities to help everyone get oriented and settled in, and on
week 5 we will travel to Hue on Monday and return on Tuesday, and the partial-day activity and group dinner have been combined into a single event on Friday evening.
So, whether you’ve been to Vietnam before or are exploring Southeast Asia for the first time, this LongStay offers a welcoming, unhurried way to experience something new. It’s warm, walkable, and full of charm, and it just might be the perfect way to skip winter at home!

Hoi An is one of those places that seems to charm just about everyone. It’s safe, easy to get around, and full of character, with lantern lit streets, riverside cafés, tailors, temples, and local markets, plus plenty of relaxed spots to enjoy a cold beer or a great meal for just a few dollars. Life here feels very different from home, but not so different that you can’t find a cheeseburger or pizza when you're craving it! There’s lots to do if you feel like being active, including beaches, cycling, golf, tennis, cooking classes, art workshops, yoga, and easy day trips. And on days when you don’t feel like doing much at all, it’s just as easy to settle into a café, order a banh mi, and watch the world go by.
Full Moon Apartments, located on the edge of Hoi An’s UNESCO listed historic district, offer a comfortable and well equipped home base for an extended stay. They’re close enough that it’s just a short walk into town, but not right in the middle of it, which many guests appreciate once the historic district starts to feel a bit hectic. There are six standard two bedroom, two bathroom apartments, as well as two larger two bedroom penthouse units. Each apartment includes a living room and kitchen, giving you plenty of space for everyday living. Onsite amenities include a swimming pool, restaurant, and lounge, with dozens of cafés, eateries, and boutique shops just a few minutes away on foot.

We’ll head to Da Nang, stop at the beach for a short walk, enjoy lunch in the expat neighborhood, and then explore the Son Tra Peninsula.

We’ll take a leisurely bike ride through the countryside, passing rice fields and water buffalo, while enjoying scenes of everyday Vietnamese life.

We’ll visit My Son Sanctuary to explore the centuries-old ruins and learn about their history, enjoy lunch together, and experience a short Cham dance & music performance.

We’ll enjoy a group cooking class where we’ll learn to prepare traditional Vietnamese dishes with a local instructor, then sit down together to enjoy the meal we made.

We will take a boat ride on the Thu Bon River and explore Thanh Ha Pottery Village, Kim Bong Carpentry Village, and Cam Thanh Coconut Village.

We’ll attend the Hoi An Memories Show, a large-scale outdoor performance that brings the history of Hoi An to life through music, dance, and storytelling.

We’ll take a day trip to Ba Na Hills Resort, beginning with a long, scenic cable car ride to the top of the mountain. Once there, we’ll explore the resort’s unique attractions and enjoy lunch.

We’ll take a coffee class at a nearby coffee factory, where we’ll learn about coffee in Vietnam and how to make several Vietnamese-style coffees.

This week we will take an overnight trip to Hue. On day one we'll explore the historic Citadel, enjoy lunch, and check into our hotel. The next day we'll explore the Mausoleum of Khai Dinh.

We will go to Danang in the evening, head to a rooftop bar for a view of the city and a drink, then board a cruise boat and sail down the Han River while eating dinner.

We’ll head to Marble Mountains to explore this group of limestone hills, visiting caves, pagodas, and scenic viewpoints while learning about their cultural and spiritual significance.

We will go watch the Teh Dar Bamboo Circus, a striking bamboo circus performance that blends live music, movement, and storytelling inspired by Vietnam’s Central Highlands.

Our first optional trip is two nights in Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon, in southern Vietnam. It’s busy, energetic, and a real contrast to Hoi An, giving you a look at the country’s largest city and economic centre. This trip falls on the third week of our trip during otherwise free days so you won't miss anything from the regular agenda.

Our second optional trip is three nights in northern Vietnam, with two nights in Hanoi, the country’s capital, exploring its older neighbourhoods before heading out to stunning Ha Long Bay for a night on the water. This trip starts the day the regular LongStay program ends, so you'll stay a few extra days.

This Land Package does not include trans-Pacific flights, airport transfers, medical or cancellation insurance. Gratuities for guides are at the discretion of guests.
